Roles & Responsibilities
Your Role: We are seeking a highly technical, results-driven specialist to own and optimize our online payment processing infrastructure across multiple acquirers, MIDs, and PSPs. This role is purely focused on payment performance optimization designing and managing smart routing, multi-acquirer strategies, FX cost reduction, and in-house payments technology. You will manage the entire online payments performance layer, from BIN-based routing logic and multi-currency settlement optimization to AI-driven, real-time monitoring tools, ensuring we maximize approval rates, minimize costs, and stay ahead in payment infrastructure innovation by reducing reliance on third-party orchestration platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transaction Monitoring & Performance Analysis
- Monitor real-time payment performance using dashboards, alerts, and AI-driven anomaly detection.
- Analyze declines and success rates to identify optimization opportunities by PSP, acquirer, and market.
- Build predictive models to forecast approval trends and prevent potential issues before they occur.
- Track and report key KPIs such as approval rate improvements, FX savings, and decline recovery rates.
- Routing & Optimization
- Design and maintain smart routing logic based on BIN, issuing country, card scheme, currency, transaction value, and channel.
- Implement multi-acquirer and failover strategies to increase approval rates and ensure redundancy.
- Enable Apple Pay BIN detection (DPAN BIN) for accurate routing on tokenized transactions.
- Conduct A/B routing tests to determine optimal acquirer/PSP selection for each market segment.
- Cost & FX Impact Reduction
- Manage settlement accounts in multiple currencies to avoid unnecessary FX conversion fees.
- Analyze FX markup costs and negotiate with acquirers/PSPs for reduced or zero markup.
- Automate routing to ensure transactions are processed in matching currency MIDs wherever possible.
- Data Management & Insights
- Maintain and enrich BIN databases for routing accuracy and cost tracking.
- Store and analyze transaction metadata to generate insights on market performance and cost efficiency.
- Build real-time dashboards for success rates, FX costs, and acquirer performance metrics.
- Technology & Innovation
- Lead the development of in-house payment routing and retry engines to reduce dependency on external orchestration providers.
- Integrate AI/ML models for intelligent routing, payment method recommendations, and decline recovery.
- Oversee PSP and acquirer integrations, API enhancements, and alternative payment method rollouts.
Desired Candidate Profile
Language Proficiency
- Minimum B2 level English (C1/C2 preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education
- Bachelor s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
- 4+ years in e-payment processing, payment gateway management, transaction monitoring, or multi-acquirer routing.
- Experience in e-commerce, ticketing, or other high-volume online payment environments.
- Proven track record in technical payment optimization not operational refunds or dispute handling.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with payment gateway platforms (e.g., Adyen, Checkout.com, Amazon Payment Services, Stripe, NI, Cybersource).
- Strong knowledge of card schemes, BIN logic, MIDs, authentication protocols, and network tokenization.
- Familiarity with online payment methods (cards, wallets, BNPL) and PSP APIs.
- Familiarity with BIN database tools such as Binlist or commercial BIN APIs.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex payment performance data.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, Kibana).
- Experience integrating AI/ML into operational monitoring and optimization.
