Wood is currently looking for a Senior Drilling Rig Supervisor to support one of our projects in Basra, Iraq.
Schedule 15 days on 13 days off (1 day face to face hand over with B2B)

- Min. BSc Degree (engineering preferred).
- Level 4 IWCF / IADC Supervisor well control ticket (minimum 12 months validity).

Primary Function:
- To conduct the day to day safe and efficient management and oversight of operational drilling activities carried out by the turnkey drilling contractor.
- To contribute to the work plan with all other parties being the Wells Planner, Client, Contractors and Sub Surface.
Job Role and Interfaces:
- Provide oversight for daily operations for the LSTK service provider.
- QA/QC daily drilling activities to ensure the requirements are met in full.
- Ensure all drilling standards are adhered to on a daily basis.
- To ensure safety plans and operational procedures are adhered to under the terms of the relevant bridging document my means of regular audits.
- To assist with periodic Management Site visits with contractor and service company management as per the department schedule.
- To actively participate in the training and development of local national employees, Including Client, or agency personnel.
- To work with and directly communicate with and support Field personnel on location.
- To maintain close communication with the Wells Superintendent, Wells Manager and Client counterparts at all times.
- To check and review drilling programmes and advise accordingly.
- To maintain a close and mutual advisory function with the Drilling Engineering Team.
- To be fully aware of the terms of the contract and ensure the terms are adhered to and to flag up any inconsistencies and, or non-compliance meetings and communications with and between all involved parties.
- To ensure quality standards are maintained and wherever possible improved.
- To embrace and to actively contribute to the promoting of a culture of continuous improvement.
- To actively and effectively manage, develop and support all subordinate staff.
- To actively encourage others to contribute to the work process through direct participation and other means of involvement.
- To be aware of and take into account local community issues.
- To contribute to the management reporting and forecasting needs of the organisation.
- Establish effective working relationships with contractor companies, management and logistics functions.
- Good analytical skills and able to conduct root cause and incident investigations.
- Demonstrable track record with NPT management.
- Demonstrable HSE safety record.
- Experienced with horizontal drilling (including geo steering).
- Experience of SIMOPS management.
- Experience of two-stage and liner cementing.
- Experience of drilling with losses, and management of well cleaning in horizontal wells.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years senior drilling supervisory experience with 1500 and 2000HP rigs.
- Well-developed skills and use of MS Office software and tools.
- Experienced with using Landmark engineering packages.
- Able to interact effectively with peers; service and contractor representatives.
- Must be a self-starter and motivated individual.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and embrace a new working environment.
- Fluent in written and spoken Arabic and English
