Roles & Responsibilities

About the role

We're looking for a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Commercial Manager to assume a leadership position within our fantastic Cost Planning team in Dubai.

You'll be instrumental in expanding our Cost Planning capabilities, focusing on some of the largest and most complex building projects across the UAE & Saudi Arabia.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of talented Quantity Surveyors, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure projects are appropriately staffed and delivered to the highest standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs within the team.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
  • Take overall responsibility for the commercial management of high-end hospitality projects, including luxury hotel new builds and complex refurbishment schemes.
  • Provide expert cost management advice and support to clients throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to completion.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of cost plans, estimates, tender documentation, and contract administration.
  • Ensure accurate and timely cost reporting, forecasting, and value management.
  • Proactively identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations with contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and relevant regulations.
  • Possess a strong understanding and proven track record in the commercial management of high-value and intricate interior fit-out projects within the hospitality sector.
  • Demonstrate expertise in managing the cost implications of bespoke finishes, specialist installations, and high-quality materials.
  • Provide strategic advice on procurement strategies and value engineering for interior fit-out elements.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, architects, designers, and other stakeholders within the high-end hospitality sector.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met and exceeded.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, commercial matters, and potential challenges to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the company professionally at client meetings and industry events.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for business development within the hospitality sector.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's strategic goals for the hospitality sector.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in cost management within the UAE construction, built environment & real estate sectors.
  • Identify opportunities for service innovation and improvement.
Key Skills & Requirements
  • Minimum 10 post-qualification experience in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management, within a broad range of sectors e.g. residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use, master planning etc.
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully delivering complex projects within budget and to programme.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Highly client-focused with a commitment to delivering exceptional service.
  • Proactive and results-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Professional and articulate with strong presentation skills
Qualifications & Training
  • Bachelor s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or another relevant subject.
  • MRICS or an equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.
