Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Water Quality & Chemical Analysis

  • Conduct regular sampling and analysis of seawater intake, RO permeate, brine, and plant process streams.
  • Monitor water quality parameters such as pH, TDS, conductivity, turbidity, hardness, chlorine, and microbiological content.
  • Evaluate and optimize chemical dosing for pretreatment, antiscalants, cleaning, and disinfection processes.
  • Identify deviations from water quality standards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments, calibrations, and quality control procedures.

Laboratory Management

  • Supervise laboratory technicians and chemists, assigning tasks and ensuring accuracy of results.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all laboratory activities.
  • Ensure laboratory compliance with ISO, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, reports, and documentation for regulatory submissions and audits.

Process Support & Optimization

  • Support operations and maintenance teams with technical guidance on chemical treatment processes.
  • Participate in process troubleshooting and optimization studies to enhance plant efficiency.
  • Recommend improvements in chemical usage, treatment methods, and monitoring techniques.
  • Assist in preparation and execution of cleaning and maintenance programs (CIP, membrane cleaning).

QHSE Compliance

  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in compliance with HSE regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits related to chemical operations.
  • Provide training and guidance to plant personnel on chemical safety and water quality management.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly water quality and chemical reports.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding compliance and water quality issues.
  • Participate in management reviews, audits, and inspections related to laboratory and chemical operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Water Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of experience in water treatment, desalination, or industrial process chemistry, with at least 2 years in a senior/lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of SWRO desalination processes, chemical dosing, and water treatment technologies.
  • Experience with laboratory instruments (spectrophotometers, TOC analyzers, conductivity meters, etc.) and quality control procedures.
  • Familiarity with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, and HSE compliance in laboratory environments.
