Job description
• BI Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement comprehensive business intelligence and data warehousing solutions using IBM tools such as DataStage and Cognos. This includes building end-to-end systems that transform raw data into valuable business insights.
• Data Integration & Transformation: Integrate data from multiple sources such as databases, APIs, and external systems, ensuring that data is accurately transformed into usable formats for analysis and reporting.
• ETL Process Design & Optimization: Architect and optimize ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, ensuring seamless integration and high data quality.
• Data Visualization & Reporting: Develop advanced dashboards, reports, and KPIs that deliver clear, actionable insights to support decision-making processes.
• Data Quality Assurance: Establish data governance frameworks to ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data across all business intelligence outputs. Perform regular data audits and implement best practices for data validation.
• Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor, diagnose, and resolve performance issues within BI tools, databases, and ETL processes. Implement tuning strategies to improve system response times, reduce query execution times, and maximize system throughput.
• System Upgrades & Maintenance: Manage the configuration, upgrading, and troubleshooting of business intelligence platforms, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime. Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and technical solutions.
• Business Problem-Solving: Use advanced data analytics and business intelligence techniques to identify and solve business problems, delivering strategic insights that drive innovation, growth, and operational improvements for clients.
• Project Ownership & Delivery: Take full ownership of BI projects, from initial data discovery through to solution deployment. This includes managing the entire lifecycle of data analysis, architecture, and visualization to meet project goals and deadlines.
• Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain thorough documentation of data models, processes, ETL pipelines, and best practices. Ensure that knowledge is effectively shared within the team and across business units to promote system maintainability and scalability.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with business users, product owners, and cross-functional teams to gather and analyze business requirements. Translate these needs into technical designs that deliver meaningful solutions.
• Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance to subordinate engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices in data architecture, engineering, and visualization.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest BI and data analytics trends, tools, and technologies.
Requirements
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in business intelligence and data analytics.
• Expertise with IBM Technologies: Extensive hands-on experience with IBM products, including IBM Cognos Analytics, IBM InfoSphere DataStage, IBM Db2, and IBM Cloud Pak for Data. Familiarity with deploying and integrating these tools in various environments is highly valued.
• Advanced SQL and ETL Mastery: Proficient in SQL with a deep understanding of database management, complex queries, data extraction, and data transformation processes. Expertise in building, optimizing, and maintaining ETL pipelines to handle high-volume data workloads.
• Data Warehousing & Modeling: Strong knowledge of data warehousing principles, architecture, and best practices.
• Data Visualization & Reporting: Proficient in creating intuitive, visually engaging dashboards and reports that translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Performance Optimization: Expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimizing BI tools and database systems to ensure high efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, particularly in analyzing complex data challenges and designing innovative solutions that meet business objectives.
• Business & Technical Translation: Proven ability to gather, analyze, and interpret business requirements, and translate them into robust technical solutions.
