Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • The Senior Accountant will prepare and review accurate financial statements, including profit & loss, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring alignment with IFRS or applicable GAAP. They will manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closings and lead coordination with auditors to support internal and external audits.
  • This role involves leading the budgeting and forecasting processes, monitoring plant performance against financial targets, and analyzing variances with actionable insights. The Senior Accountant will provide cost-benefit analysis and financial modeling support for operational and strategic decisions, while also identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
  • They will be responsible for tracking and analyzing O&M expenses such as chemicals, power consumption, spare parts, and labor, and will collaborate closely with the plant's operations and engineering teams to improve financial visibility and cost management. Oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions, cash flow forecasting, and bank transactions is also expected.
  • Additionally, the Senior Accountant will review the financial aspects of contracts and procurement documentation, ensuring compliance with payment schedules, retention terms, and milestone triggers. They will support internal stakeholders in evaluating vendor performance and payment risks.
  • This position requires a strong command of ERP systems, with a focus on ensuring data integrity and developing useful reporting dashboards. The Senior Accountant will also champion improvements in financial processes, workflows, and internal controls.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification is strongly preferred.

Experience:
A minimum of five to eight years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a senior or supervisory role. Prior experience in utilities, water treatment, desalination, or infrastructure O&M is highly desirable, with strong familiarity in managing financials for cost-intensive, asset-heavy environments.

Skills:

  • Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and cost analysis
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and/or local GAAP
  • Proficient in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to lead junior staff and
