Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The School Counselor supports students in their academic, personal, emotional, and social development. The role involves counseling sessions, guidance programs, crisis intervention, and collaboration with teachers and parents to create a safe and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, personal, and social issues
Identify students facing difficulties and intervene with appropriate support or referrals
Assist students with goal setting, time management, and study skills
Support student behavior management and conflict resolution
Develop and deliver guidance programs focused on mental health, peer relationships, and career awareness
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to monitor student progress and well-being
Promote a positive school climate through wellness initiatives and emotional learning programs
Maintain confidential records of counseling sessions and student issues
Respond to student crises and provide immediate support or referrals to specialists
Organize awareness sessions, workshops, or training for staff, students, and parents
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, or related field
Certified School Counselor license or equivalent (depending on country/school)
2+ years of experience in a school or child-focused setting
Training in child development, mental health, or crisis intervention is a plus
