Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SAP HANA databases
- Manage and troubleshoot SAP HANA services (daemons) including Index Server, Name Server, XS Engine, and Compile Server
- Deep understanding of SAP HANA port numbers and internal communication
- Analyze and resolve issues related to SAP Start Service vs HANA Daemons
- Strong knowledge of HANA process IDs and service ports (e.g., 30015, 30040, 30044)
- Troubleshoot scenarios where Index Server or Daemon services fail to start
- Perform proactive monitoring of HANA systems (CPU, memory, disk, alerts)
- Execute housekeeping activities:
- Log cleanup
- Backup catalog cleanup
- Trace and dump file management
- Monitor and manage log volume reclaim and data growth
- Configure and administer SAP HANA System Replication (HSR):
- Sync / Async modes
- Troubleshooting replication issues
- Perform and troubleshoot Delta Merge operations
- Work with HANA clustering solutions (SIOS LifeKeeper / Pacemaker)
- Handle HANA high availability and disaster recovery setups
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for production issues
- Collaborate with SAP Basis, Infrastructure, and OS teams
- Maintain operational documentation and runbooks
