Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

  • The position is for a seasoned sales professional with extensive professional network in Oman and the greater region. The role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, driving sales growth, and developing strong relationships with key stakeholders in the shipping, logistics, and supply chain industries.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic Business Development:

  • Lead the identification and pursuit of business opportunities, focusing on freight forwarders, 3PLs, and key import/export clients.
  • Build and manage a structured pipeline of opportunities through high-level networking, strategic partnerships, and industry influence.
  • Pricing execution, including the development of competitive rate structures, incentive schemes, and commercial proposals tailored to different market segments (e.g., freight forwarders, BCOs and 3PLs).

Sales & Client Relationship Management:

  • Drive the terminal s sales function, ensuring achievement of ambitious volume, revenue, and market share targets.
  • Develop customized commercial offerings, tariffs, and service models tailored to each target segment.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with senior decision-makers across the shipping and logistics ecosystem.

Commercial Strategy & Performance Reporting:

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Director on the development and execution of the terminal s commercial strategy, including pricing, service positioning, and customer segmentation.
  • Analyze commercial performance, identifying gaps and opportunities to improve customer acquisition and revenue generation.
  • Provide detailed sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and executive reporting to inform decision-making.
  • Recommend adjustments to sales tactics, market positioning, or incentives based on customer feedback and competitive dynamics.

Cross-Functional Alignment:

  • Lead, coach, and mentor more junior business development and sales professionals to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Work closely with terminal operations, finance, and customer service teams to ensure service excellence and aligned delivery of commercial commitments.
  • Translate customer and market feedback into operational insights to improve service levels, turnaround times, and customer experience.

QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in business, economics, maritime studies, logistics, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in commercial, sales, or business development roles within the logistics industry, with container business experience.

Knowledge/ Skills

  • Sound understanding of terminal operations, carrier industry and 3PL operators.
  • Understanding of tariff structures, incentives and service agreements.
  • Strong track record of structuring and closing high-value contracts and growing volumes.
  • Ability to carry out market studies, competitive benchmarking and customer segmentation.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-levels.
  • Highly motivated relationship-builder and a customer-centric leader
  • Ability to navigate changes in trade flows, geopolitical shifts, or industry disruptions
  • Adept at working with CRM systems, account management and sales pipelines.
  • Strong negotiation, finance, and analytical skills
  • Sound time management and project management skills
  • Highly computer literate (Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint mandatory)
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation)
  • Fluent in English (Arabic an asset); culturally adept in regional business contexts.
