Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures within an organization. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure a safe working environment for all employees by conducting risk assessments, developing safety protocols, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety standards. You will work closely with management, staff, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and mitigate any potential hazards that could affect company operations. Your keen attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations will help in identifying potential risks and establishing preventive measures to safeguard employees and company assets. The position demands strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement in safety standards.


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their cause and preventive measures.
  • Coordinate safety training sessions for employees and management teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, and training programs.
  • Monitor employee adherence to safety practices and company safety protocols.
  • Advise management on necessary safety equipment and protective gear requirements.
  • Collaborate with external agencies for safety standards and regulatory compliance updates.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on safety performance and improvements.
  • Promote awareness of workplace safety through campaigns and educational efforts.
  • Lead emergency response planning and conduct emergency drills regularly.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety officer role or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state safety regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting and training.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify and address safety risks competently.
  • Proficient in using safety software and Microsoft Office Suite for documentation purposes.
