Roles & Responsibilities

The Electrician is also responsible for the simple repair and general maintenance of the following areas of the rig:

  1. Deck Equipment
    1. Leg depth indicator
    2. A.C. motors that drive;
      1. Elevator motor units (jacking)
      2. Skidder gear unit (longitude and transvers
      3. Raw water tour gear unit
      4. Raw water pump
    3. Electric cranes and controls
  2. Drilling Equipment
    1. Electrical brake
    2. Drilling equipment control console
    3. Mud pump control console
    4. A.C. motors that drive:
      1. Drawworks clutch and brake cooling pump
      2. Crane
      3. Drawworks drive blower
      4. Rotary table drive blower
      5. Rig floor hydraulic power unit
      6. Bulk air compressor
      7. Mud mixer
      8. Hopper pump
      9. Shale shaker
      10. Degasser pump
      11. Accumulator unit
      12. Desander pump
    5. D.C. motors that drive:
      1. Drawworks
      2. Rotary table
      3. Top Drive
  3. Engine Room
    1. A.C. motors that drive:
      1. Saltwater pump system
      2. Non portable water pump system
      3. Oil pump system
      4. Air compressor system
      5. Vent exhaust and supply fans
    2. Bus, control circuits and individual feeders
    3. Switchboard
    4. A.D. generators
    5. Motor generator set
    6. SCR system
    7. Tachometer generator
    8. Engine alarm system
    9. Battery charger
    10. Ventilation system
  4. Living Quarters
    1. Marine range
    2. Fry range

Desired Candidate Profile

2-4 years experience with equipment similar to that used on the rig being assigned to, with a minimum of 12 months experience with drive systems, if the rig is so equipped, is preferred. Experience with USCG regulations on the electrical systems and wiring requirements if the assigned rig is a MODU classed unit. Ability to wear respiratory protective devices. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATE REQUIRED: STOP for Supervisor Program
