Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

migration, visa and rejection policies, real and perceived opportunities at home and in Europe, etc.).
The information gathered through the Action Research will be used, on a second stage, to develop
simple and effective Guidelines for awareness-raising and the provision of accurate information
about migration, that will be disseminated among local and international stakeholders to jointly
co-construct awareness raising campaigns about migration processes and information campaigns on
opportunities for socio-economic inclusion in the local area to facilitate access for the target group.
The Researcher for the Action Research Career will be responsible for conducting a preliminary
research, identifying and selecting the participants in the Action Research, providing the necessary
training, and facilitating the groups to elaborate the Migration Profiles. The Action Research will
take place in Cairo and Greater Cairo, Damietta and Alexandria. The Action Research will be
conducted through a participatory approach and through a gender lens. The role includes
coordination with COSPE s expert in Migration (during his mission and through remote

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a bibliographic research and gathering of available qualitative and quantitative data

elaboration of the migration profiles through the Action Research.
- Develop and coordinate an outreach campaign to identify 80 potential migrants / returnees /
migrants in transit and refugees residing in the country in the target areas, and divide them in
4 groups (2 in Cairo and Greater Cairo, 1 in Damietta and 1 in Alexandria).
- Train the 80 participants on data collection methodologies and conduction of surveys and
research: 3 training days per group, for 4 groups, for a total of 12 training days.
- Lead workshops with the participants to co-design the research methodology: 3 workshop
days per group, for 4 groups, for a total of 12 workshop days.
- Support the 80 participants as they conduct the research, reaching other youth (migrants,
potential migrants, returnee migrants, migrants in transit and refugees) and their families and
the local communities, representatives of work agencies and institutions, local development
associations, journalists and representatives of the diaspora in Europe.
- Lead workshops with the participants to discuss the data collected through the survey and
the results of the research, and elaborating the Migration Profiles: 4 workshop days per
group, for 4 groups, for a total of 16 workshop days.
- Ensure that the Action Research is conducted through a gender approach, analyzing how the
migration phenomenon is perceived and elaborated differently by women and men, and
identifying what are the diverse roles and influences of mothers, fathers and other family
members within the family dynamic, that influence the decision to migrate.
- Edit and finalize the 4 Migration Profiles.
- Participate in the elaboration of the Guidelines or awareness-raising and the provision of
accurate information about migration
