About the Program
The Marine and Coastal Resources Program (MCR) at the Institute of the Environment (IOE), University of Balamand, is dedicated to research, conservation, and the sustainable management of Lebanon s marine and coastal ecosystems. We foster interdisciplinary research, stakeholder engagement, and policy development to address the region s most pressing environmental challenges.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant (RA)/Researcher to join our dynamic team! This is an excellent opportunity for candidates passionate about marine science, coastal zone management, environmental research, and sustainable development.
What You ll Do:
- - Plan and conduct field surveys (biodiversity, water quality, habitat assessments, etc.).
- - Collect, manage, and analyze environmental data using modern tools and software.
- - Support laboratory work, including sample processing and analysis.
- - Write literature reviews, technical reports, and scientific publications.
- - Identify funding opportunities and assist in project proposal development.
- - Organize workshops, stakeholder meetings, and outreach activities.
- - Maintain research equipment and documentation.
- - Collaborate with faculty, students, and external partners.
- - Oversee and support students in their graduate theses.
- - Prepare content for social media and public awareness campaigns.
- - Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Desired Candidate Profile
What We re Looking For
- - Master s degree in Coastal Science, Oceanography, Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
- - Experience in fieldwork, data collection, and analysis in marine/coastal environments.
- - Familiarity with GIS, statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS), and data visualization tools.
- - Experience in project proposal development and implementation (national/international).
- - Strong organizational and communication skills.
- - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- - Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and information technologies.
- - Fluency in English and Arabic (French is a plus).
