Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for steel fabrication and erection works.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs from structural drawings and fabrication shop drawings.
  • Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and bills of quantities to prepare competitive bids.
  • Analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations to determine cost-effective options.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenditure throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare cost reports, cash-flow forecasts, and financial summaries for management.
  • Identify potential cost variations and report financial risks proactively.
  • Prepare and review contractual documents, variation orders, and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, project specifications, and local regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to confirm financial and contractual matters.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, planning, and fabrication teams to ensure alignment with project costs.
  • Conduct site visits to verify progress, validate quantities, and assess variations in actual work.
  • Support procurement in selecting and negotiating with suppliers of steel materials and services.
  • Maintain accurate records of material quantities, production outputs, and cost data.
  • Prepare monthly valuation reports, progress claims, and final account statements.
  • Track material consumption vs. planned quantities to highlight discrepancies.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quantity surveying for steel fabrication or structural steel projects.
  • Strong understanding of steel structures, fabrication processes, and erection methods.
  • Proficient in reading structural and fabrication drawings.
  • Knowledge of QS software (e.g., CostX, Planswift, Candy) is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
