Roles & Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE-

  • The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for development of detailed quantity and price estimates based on the on the drawings & clients requirement.

REQUIREMENT-
Academic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering, management, or similar.

Experience Requirements:

  • Should have at least 2-3 years of hands-on experience of having worked as a quantity surveyor in wooden products manufacturing or a related industry
  • Experience of working in GCC countries is an added advantage

Technical Skill Requirements

  • Should have strong estimation skills and should be able to create detailed quantity estimates
  • Should have basic knowledge of designing as well as a know-how of the designing tools like auto-cad
  • Should have basic knowledge of Microsoft office applications


  • Transportation Allowance-FREE
  • Contract Duration :2 years.
  • Working Hours-8 hours per day, 6 days per week.
  • Insurance: Free medical insurance as per Bahrain Labor Law.
  • Air Ticket: Entitled once every two years for the employee only. This benefit is applicable for travel from Bahrain to the employee's home country only.

WORKING HOURS-

  • Eight hours a day, six days a week, from 8:00 am to 1:00 noon and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Lunch time is from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

Management Activities-

  • None

Operational Activities-

  • Act as the first point of contact for walk-in customers or customers making inquiries on phone.
  • Based on initial requirements indicated by customers as well as inputs from design executives, develop preliminary quantity and price estimates.
  • Conduct site visits as and when required to engage the customer and collaborate with the customer for detailing of their requirements.
  • Based on final shop drawings, develop detailed estimates for quantity and price for the respective job and share it with the Head of Project Sales for approval.
  • Coordinate with the production department for developing working samples for client requirements and show it to the customers to get approvals on the material to be used, quality including design issues, if any.
  • When the job order nears completion, coordinate with the customers to invite them to the production and get final approvals before painting jobs can start.
  • To study the drawing received from consultants and prepare the scope of work.
  • Preparing the list of materials with proper specification and forwarding the same to purchase to obtain quote.
  • Undergoing discussion with architects, Client, customer, production & project in charge to know the work nature before starting with estimation.
  • Preparing of budgetary estimate by quantifying the items and assuming the missing the details for estimation.
  • Prepare the RFI/RFC & send to Client/consultant/architect for getting the proper information before submission.
  • Preparing the actual estimate on receipt of drawing by considering all the materials, hardware, labor and machining operations and submitting the same for management approval.
  • Liaise with purchase, projects, subcontractors, suppliers, production team to get quote and required information for tenders.
  • Preparing of BOQ with quantities and rates for the estimated items with dimensions, proper item description and specification in an elaborate manner.
  • Preparing of rate analysis for the estimated work.
  • Preparing of draft estimation with estimated quantity of material, subcontract work, bought outs, labor and machine hour and forwarding the same to Management for approval.
  • Awarded project BOQ should be entered into ERP system.
  • Tracking of project with project in charge to know the revisions and design changes and estimating the changes as and when required.
  • Preparing the estimates / BOQ for the Non-tendered items and additional work.
  • Issuing of revised BOQ with necessary amendments to materials, labor etc., with regard to the changes asked by the client / consultant on receipt of PO / approval to accounts.
  • To assist senior QS & department head as and when required.
  • Maintaining record of drawings and relevant information with regard to estimation.
  • Preparing and submitting weekly progress report with regard to the quantum of work achieved.
  • Any other work entrusted by the Head of Projects & Fit Out from time to time.
  • To attend the department meeting / Project as and when required
