Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and assess the financial implications of any changes or issues.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best value for the project.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Prepare tender documents, including bill of quantities, to assist in the bidding process for contractors.
  • Analyze project specifications and drawings to provide accurate quantity take-offs and cost projections.
  • Advise on procurement strategies to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and timelines.
  • Prepare interim and final valuations for work completed, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Utilize cost management software to track expenditures and provide real-time financial reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure alignment on project goals and budgets.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with a strong foundation in construction principles.
  • Professional membership with recognized institutions like RICS or CIQS is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of managing diverse projects, from residential to commercial developments.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and advanced Excel skills to streamline budgeting processes.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, cost control methods, and risk management practices.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented mindset, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Cultural awareness and language proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
