Roles & Responsibilities

On behalf of our client in Senegal, we are recruiting a "Purchasing Manager based in Dakar" who will be responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities related to the company's purchasing and supply. His role is to guarantee the availability of the necessary products and services under the best conditions of cost, quality and deadlines.


I- Job activities:

1) Purchasing Strategy:

a- Develop the purchasing strategy in collaboration with senior management.

b- Define the cost, quality and deadline objectives to be achieved.

c- Monitor developments in the building materials market.

d- Anticipate trends and price variations (market monitoring).


2) Sourcing and Supplier Relations:

a- Identify new potential suppliers.

b- Evaluate the performance of existing suppliers.

c- Negotiate contractual conditions.

d- Conduct negotiations with suppliers to obtain advantageous conditions.


3) Tender Management:

a- Organize calls for tenders for certain products or categories.

b- Analyze proposals and recommend the best suppliers.


4) Cost Optimization:

a- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.

b- Implement actions to reduce purchasing expenses.

c- Calculate a cost price and a selling price.


5) Inventory Control and Management:

a- Control stock levels and ensure restocking.

b- Ensure product availability according to business needs.


6) Transit and Logistics

a- Choose the freight forwarder and manage the relationship with them.

b- Launch calls for tenders for transit services.


7) Team Management

a- Supervise, train and motivate a team of buyers.

b- Ensure the development of skills within the team.


II- Required skills:


* Knowledge & know-how:

- Mastery of negotiation techniques

- Mastery of IT tools

- Ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers.

- Anticipate changes and the needs of the company

- Excellent knowledge of the entire purchasing process and the logistics

and supply chain


* Soft skills:

- Interpersonal skills

- Listening and communication skills - Proactive - Rigorous and methodical - Adaptability

* Training and qualifications:


- Bac +4/5 in fields such as commerce, management, purchasing, logistics, or related fields.
