Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Psychology Teacher is required to teach pupils from Years 5 to 13 and may take on the role of a Form Tutor. The successful applicant is responsible and accountable for securing the highest standards of pupil achievement. We are seeking an individual who can articulate and develop the vision and ethos of King s College Doha, helping to inspire pupils and parents within the school community. For the right applicant, leadership opportunities may be available.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
Foster a passion for Psychology, an excellent work ethic, and a culture of high expectations in which both staff and pupils fulfil their potential.
Plan, prepare, and deliver well-structured, engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
Work collaboratively to plan the curriculum and schemes of work.
Ensure Psychology teaching aligns with the curriculum development plan and standards associated with Common Entrance.
Support pupils with extra help where required and set challenging learning and developmental goals.
Provide regular feedback and encourage pupils to reflect on and respond to it.
Pastoral and Wider School Life
Undertake pastoral and supervisory duties as required, including being a Form Tutor.
Attend assemblies, departmental meetings, parents evenings, school functions, and other staff meetings.
Serve as an exemplary role model and support a collaborative and supportive departmental culture.
Participate in extracurricular activities and wider school life.
Ensure outstanding pastoral care and uphold the school s image in the community.
Curriculum Development
Broaden and improve teaching methods to stimulate student learning.
Develop high-quality, creative subject-specific activities and resources.
Ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum articulation.
Analyse subject data and act to ensure outstanding student progress.
Engage in continuous professional development and regularly review own practice.
Person Specification
Excellent knowledge of the UK National Curriculum or similar. (E)
Strong subject knowledge in Psychology.(E)
At least two years of relevant teaching experience.(E)
Good degree from an established university.(E)
PGCE or QTS (or equivalent).(E)
Emerging leadership skills and ability to command respect from students, staff, and parents.(E)
Excellent administrative, organisational, and communication skills.(E)
Ability to inspire students and ensure curriculum accessibility for all.(E)
Energetic, charismatic, and collaborative team player with a sense of humour.(E)
Experience teaching pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).(D)
Experience working in the independent school sector.(D)
