Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Main Tasks & Accountabilities
Engineering Tasks
- Act as the "mastermind" behind project execution, turning blueprints into on-time deliverables.
- Design new manufacturing or processing facilities, including modifications and expansions of existing ones
- Track project progress, monitor activities, ensure adherence to schedules, and update plans as needed
- Create comprehensive project plans, develop detailed schedules, and determine the necessary resources, equipment, and labor
- Focus on optimizing timelines and ensuring projects stay on track by having a finger on the pulse of each task
- Proactively identify and address potential problems before they hinder progress
Outreach
- Consults with and provides guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.
- Uses design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary and related systems and structures such as transportation or hydraulics.
- Collaborate with all MDC parties, contractors, and various stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve issues.
- Assesses strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel by testing materials and soil.
- Sets design specifications by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters.
- Plans projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topographical data.
- Drafts and presents reports on topics related to projects such as environmental impact statements and right-of-way descriptions.
- Estimates materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine project costs.
- Collaborate with architects and contractors to ensure projects progress properly.
Quality Control
- Work to maintain high-quality standards and ensure projects meet all technical and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and control maintenance standards with the department.
- Ensure projects and contractors activates function as per SOW and MDC regulatory and standard.
Engineering Quality Control
- Ensure plant quality performance standards are maintained.
- Monitor and control maintenance standards with the department.
Budgeting and Cost Control
- Assist in estimating project costs, allocating resources efficiently, and managing budgets to ensure financial objectives are met.
- Continuously monitoring actual costs and tracking expenses against the established budget.
- Accurately estimating all project expenses and developing a detailed, agreed-upon budget
- Implementing strategies to optimize resource allocation, such as value engineering and analyzing labor and material costs, to ensure adherence to the budget.
Other Tasks
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
- Perform all the other tasks and activities assigned.
Quality, Health, Safety, Security & Environment
- Identify potential QHSE risks at the project level and develop effective mitigation strategies to prevent accidents, environmental damage, or quality failures.
- Ensure that all project activities and methodologies comply with the organization's QHSE policies and relevant external regulations.
- Participate in the rollout of new safety equipment or procedures and contribute to the overall improvement of QHSE performance on projects
- Ensure all relevant quality, health, security, safety, and environmental policies, procedures and controls are adhered to so that employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service and a responsible environmental attitude can be guaranteed.
Team Building Planning, acquisition and mentoring
- Develop staffing plan to meet scheduled production.
- Ensure an optimized work force in terms of quantity and quality.
- Oversee creation of training plans to address knowledge/skills gaps if any.
- Define knowledge/skillsets required.
- Effective communication within and outside the team.
- Create a supportive environment for the team members.
- Contribute to the team, letting others know information that may be useful or important.
- Help to create a fun, supportive work environment.
People Management and reporting responsibilities
- Liaison with management and other line managers (as part of cross function team) for efficient running of the department.
- Participate in management and supervisory meetings as and when required.
- Produce end of month departmental report, on time, and as required by the management.
- Ensure accurate and up to date, daily, weekly, monthly records as required by the management.
- Ensure tasks are understood by the team members and performed responsibly and diligently.
- Help others in the team if needed, Support relief staff in their duties.
- Defined reporting requirement for team (content and periodicity along with structure).
- Objective assessment criteria for performance measurement.
- Effective coordination across functions to achieve targets.
- Help in developing leadership within the team.

Desired Candidate Profile
Job Purpose
The main objective of this position is to apply engineering principles to the planning, scheduling, monitoring, and control of projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality. And to develop detailed schedules, manages resources, identifies risks, and facilitates communication, also he will be responsible for the design and the coordination of tasks for manufacturing or processing facilities entire the site. Collaborate with MDC concerned parties, contractors, and various stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution and resolve issues. Assist in estimating project costs, allocating resources efficiently, and managing budgets to ensure financial objectives are met. Involves the core engineering tasks such as performing calculations, writing specifications, preparing bids, and creating technical drawings.
