Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
Teach and Develop History Courses: Develop and teach courses on European, International, Islamic, and Egyptian architectural history, with an emphasis on the cultural, social, and technological factors influencing architectural development.
Incorporate Archaeological Knowledge: Provide insights into ancient Egyptian architecture and archaeological practices, bridging the gap between historical architecture and contemporary design contexts.
Supervise Research: Guide bachelor s, master s, and Ph.D. theses focusing on architectural history, theory, and preservation practices.
Research and Collaboration: Initiate and conduct research activities related to historical architecture and heritage conservation. Collaborate with archaeologists, historians, and other experts to enrich the department s academic profile.
Curriculum Development: Contribute to the ongoing development of the architectural history curriculum, ensuring it addresses both historical and contemporary issues relevant to Egypt and the MENA region.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Architectural History, Archaeology, or a closely related field is required.
Demonstrated teaching experience in the history of architecture, with a proven ability to teach both lecture-based and seminar-style courses.
Expertise in Islamic and Egyptian architectural history is essential, with a strong understanding of the cultural and historical context of the MENA region.
Familiarity with archaeological methods and excavation practices in Egypt.
A strong research portfolio with publications related to architectural history, theory, or heritage conservation.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English, as it is the language of instruction.
A commitment to engaging with Egypt s historical and archaeological context as part of the teaching and research mission.
