Roles & Responsibilities

What the role entails

The Account Executive Public Relations plays a key role in the hands-on delivery of PR services to a portfolio of clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • span>Develop creative, effective PR plans in line with client brief and targets. /span>
  • span>Create a range of materials including media releases, pitch emails, interview briefings and social media content for various clients within portfolio. /span>
  • span>Act as a key liaison point between the team and various clients, including attending client meetings and regularly communicating with clients through other channels. /span>
  • span>Develop and maintain effective working relationships with journalists, influencers and other media contacts, including hosting media entertainment where appropriate. /span>
  • span>Pitch press releases and feature ideas to journalists and influencers, across print, broadcast and online to interest them in covering clients stories. /span>
  • span>Respond to journalist queries. /span>
  • span>Arrange interviews and editorial meetings with key journalists for clients spokespeople and facilitate these meetings where appropriate./span>
  • span>Coordinate press launches and drops. /span>
  • span>Coordinate and attend client events and provide hands-on support to ensure smooth execution of events./span>
  • span>Monitor media coverage and report results to the wider team and clients. /span>
  • span>Deliver analytics reports on media coverage, traffic, engagement, followers and other relevant metrics. /span>
  • span>Work collaboratively with members of other teams (i.e. Digital and Creative & Content) to ensure smooth project delivery across teams. /span>
  • span>Understand and observe client social media channels and how they work to be able to support the Digital Team if needed. /span>
  • span>Provide high quality, responsive and timely client services. /span>
  • span>Participate in ideation, pitches and other brainstorming activities to develop fresh ideas in support of business development./span>
  • span>Engage in Qcademy and other learning & development opportunities, to enhance skills. /span>
  • span>Stay across market trends and developments to help Q and our clients stay at the forefront of our industry in the region. /span>

Desired Candidate Profile

Ideally you will have:

  • span>A recognized tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism. /span>
  • span>Ideally 2 years of local market experience in an agency. /span>
  • span>A strong interest in a career in the Communications/PR industry./span>
  • span>Basic knowledge and experience of the local media landscape. /span>
  • span>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as high-level presentation skills. /span>
  • span>Creative flair and a demonstrated ability to use that to bring engaging PR content to life. /span>
  • span>Ability to build relationships, trust and credibility with clients, colleagues, journalists and other stakeholders./span>
  • span>Demonstrated commitment to delivering high levels of client service to a busy portfolio of clients. /span>
  • span>An ability to work as part of a team to deliver services to clients./span>
  • span>An ability to work independently, seeking guidance when required./span>
  • span>Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines within a busy schedule. /span>
  • span>Resilience in dealing with client requests and competing priorities. /span>
  • span>Demonstrated professionalism including being punctual, well presented, responsive and reliable. /span>
  • span>A strong desire to learn and develop professionally./span>
  • span>A commitment to stay across industry development and trends. /span>
