Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
1.Examine machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble.
2.Dismantle or partly dismantle machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts.
3.Replace broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock; ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs; preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops.
4.Reassemble machines and make all necessary adjustments for operation.
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or fee; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, or may include unsafe conditions, questioning nonstandard operations or environmental factors that may involve unmitigated hazards, and providing feedback to supervisors and managers on all safety issues.
Desired Candidate Profile
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience and a valid driver s license.
- A minimum of three (3) years of full-time verifiable experience required.
- Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Excluded from this classification are workers whose primary duties involve setting up or adjusting machines.
- Must have the ability to use hand and power tools and related types of equipment peculiar to the trade.
- Must have the ability to read and follow schematics, blueprints and other specifications.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
