Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) plan for utility diversion activities, ensuring alignment with project requirements and regulatory standards.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses specific to utility diversion works, including excavation, trenching, and utility relocation.
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations, including OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards.
Oversee the safety performance of contractors and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to approved safety plans and procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
Provide safety training and toolbox talks to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders, emphasizing safe work practices for utility diversion activities.
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.
Coordinate with utility companies, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure safety compliance during utility relocation works.
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement across all project teams.
Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor s degree in occupational HSE, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Master s degree or additional certifications in safety management is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HSE management, with at least 5 years in utility diversion or infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record of managing HSE for large-scale PMCM projects.
- NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent is required.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification is preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to utility diversion, excavation, and construction activities.
- Proficiency in preparing and implementing HSE plans, risk assessments, and incident reports.
- Familiarity with construction safety software and tools is an advantage.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
