Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Reports to Power Generation Equipment Manager.
  • Conducts routine inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on power plant electrical production/distribution systems, SCADA/PULSE systems, and local control systems.
  • Diagnoses issues and replaces or repairs defective parts.
  • Maintains and repairs electrical, mechanical, and auxiliary systems of generators (5-10 MW+), including diesel prime movers.
  • Inspects, operates, and maintains medium voltage switchgear, fuel systems, tanks, pumps, leak detection, and monitors alarms for system reliability.
  • Records hourly generator readings; reports on power plant operations and faults.
  • Submits operational reports to management and ensures documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Enforces safety procedures, directs staff, and ensures compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinates environmental testing and permitting with relevant authorities.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs gensets, engines, alternators, and related components.
  • Performs scheduled generator servicing per manufacturer recommendations.
  • Assists lead mechanics with overhauls, rebuilds, and complex repairs.
  • Supports distribution and operation of mechanical and electrical subsystems.
  • Responds to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, isolates faults, and implements corrective actions.
  • Maintains technical documentation and tool inventories.
  • Facilitates communication between teams during switching and fault events.
  • Participates in meetings, trainings, and safety sessions as required.
  • Trains and oversees less experienced team members to ensure quality standards.
  • Willingness to attend OEM and EHS training and maintain competency certifications.
  • Works outdoors in varying climates; must be able to work overhead and perform physical tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
  • Must maintain a valid driver s license from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date
  • Must maintain a valid passport from their home country with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date. Passport must have a minimum of 6 blank pages prior to OCONUS mobilization.
  • Must satisfy medical requirements for USACE prior to OCONUS mobilization.
  • Must be able to pass successfully a Criminal Investigation Screening.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience inspecting, operating, maintaining, and repairing multi-diesel generator facilities with 5-10Mw+ capacity with a minimum of two (2) years of deployed (non-CONUS) experience.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, fault isolation, and providing step-by-step feedback.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions; decisions follow established procedures.
  • Can identify issues, take corrective action per instructions or notify supervisor.
  • Experienced in Prime Power O&M Services.
  • Familiar with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
  • Knowledgeable in occupational hazards, safety practices, installation, and maintenance of power generation systems.
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR; trained in Lockout/Tagout Procedures.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and effective communicator with technical staff, management, subcontractors, military representatives, and officials.
  • Physically able to perform heavy lifting, equipment climbing, crawling, and outdoor work, adhering to safety regulations.
  • Proficient in PPE usage and industrial safety/environmental compliance (OSHA, NFPA70E).
  • Capable of reading and applying information from manuals, specifications, procedures, and data sheets.
  • Able to interpret data for corrective actions and equipment/process problem resolution.
  • Understands startup/shutdown and basic maintenance of power generation equipment.
  • Strong oral/written communication for reporting and briefing management.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; advanced skills preferred.
  • Willing to provide certifications and attend formal training.
