Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

A Planning Engineer is responsible for optimizing project schedules, ensuring timely completion, and effective resource allocation. Their core role involves creating detailed schedules, monitoring progress, and contributing to mitigation strategies.


Key Accountabilities

  • Project Schedule Development: Create comprehensive project schedules based on project scope, resource availability, and constraints, ensuring accurate representation of timelines and milestones.
  • Resource Allocation: Collaborate with Site management to allocate personnel, equipment, and materials efficiently, optimizing resource utilization while meeting project requirements.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly monitor project progress, track actual accomplishments against planned activities, and generate progress reports for management and stakeholders. In addition to developing of recovery, acceleration and mitigation plans depending on the progress Status.
  • Performance Analysis: Analyze schedule performance metrics, such as critical path analysis, and variance analysis to assess project health and identify areas needing attention.
  • Coordination and Communication: Facilitate communication among project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on scheduling goals, priorities, and changes.
  • Delay Management and Contractual Compliance: Assist in Diverse delay analysis techniques, to analyse delay impacts on project timelines and assist in extension of time (EOT) claims submissions.
  • Documentation: Establish professional document management system for project data (Dashboards, Progress Tracker, Progress reports…).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with clients, contractors, and relevant authorities to provide schedule-related updates, address concerns, and manage expectations.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical or Civil engineering
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience as a Planning Engineer in the construction industry
  • A substantial track record in planning and scheduling for construction projects, with progressive responsibilities and a diverse range of project types and scales.
  • Technical Expertise in using project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6), critical path analysis, delay analysis knowledge, and other relevant tools.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to organize work effectively under pressure and prioritise work accordingly
