We have immediate vacant positions for the position of "CARDIAC PERFUSIONIST" for a highly Reputed & Internationally acclaimed Saudi Arabian Government Hospital in RIYADH - Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia.Reporting to - immediate SupervisorDepartment - Cardiac Sciences
Division - Medical Services.

Basic Function :Within the mission, vision and values of the Saudi Arabian Ministry, responsible for providing life support systems for both Adult and Pediatric patients during Cardiovascular Surgeries and Intensive Care stays. Set up and operate Extracorporeal Circulation Equipment, which take over the functions of a patient's heart and lungs during heart surgery and whenever indicated otherwise.

CARDIAC PERFUSIONIST - REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

1. Education - Bachelor Degree in Perfusion Technology (with certification in Perfusion) from an accredited institution.
2. Essential Work Experience - Minimum of 3 (three) years practical experience in a comparable Accredited HealthCare facility.

CARDIAC PERFUSIONIST - MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

1. Responsible for reviewing patients' medical history and current status.
2. In conjunction with attending physicians, responsible for the selection of the most appropriate equipment and extracorporeal techniques.
3. Set up and test the heart-lung machine and related equipment. Operate the machine to regulate blood circulation and composition, control body temperature, and administer various types of blood products.
4. In addition to the application of cardiopulmonary bypass for open heart surgery, provide additional therapeutic services which may include but are not limited to:
5. The administration under prescription of various medical gases, anaesthetics, drugs, blood products, and crystalloid solutions:
6. Induced hypothermia and hemodilution of various degrees
7. Ventricular assists: Right Ventricular Assist Devices (RVAD), Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), medical devices used for temporary ventricular support device in people with depressed heart function (Impella) and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps (IABP)
8. Vascular bypass during organ transplantation
9. Long term pulmonary support, Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)
10. Hemoconcentration
11. Autotransfusion and blood salvage
12. Ensure safe and efficient working equipment, reporting faults and problems through the appropriate channels.
13. Protect patient privacy and dignity at all times and maintain strict confidentiality in conformance to the organizational policy of ethics. Advocate for patient/family rights at all times.
14. Appropriate and timely documentation.
15. Perform other job related duties.

CARDIAC PERFUSIONIST - FUNCTIONAL PROFILE.

1. Extracorporeal Circulation Equipment.

3. Work-stream leads, subordinates, health team members Decisions and Judgments.
4. Highly developed expertise and effective communication with all other health team members are essential in making the frequent critical decisions required during the course of a bypass or other related perfusion procedures Mental Demands.
5. Must have a distinct awareness of the consequence of error in judgment and skill
6. Must be able to handle very stressful situations, pay close attention to detail, and stay abreast of new research and education in their profession Physical Demands.
7. Coverage during emergencies/ other unplanned unprecedented occasions.
8. Occasional overtime, on call, weekend, holidays work might be required.
