Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Be familiar with Power Plant process (water & steam cycle) and mechanical engineering design, Performance engineering design experience in combine cycle power plants will be preferred

Be familiar with Power Plant KPI, including major equipment working principle and performance characteristics, especially the current mainstream GT/HRSG/ST/Condenser model

Solid knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer; Master the performance calculation methods and standards: Be familiar with international performance testing standard such as ASME PTC and IEC, or corresponding national standards Have modeling and simulation capabilities. Be able to conduct system modeling and simulation using software such as Thermoflex/GT pro/EBSILON/Gate Cycle, ete

Review of tender documents to understand the client performance related specifications etc. and prepare technical input list/technical clarifications and list of deviations when required

Responsible for power plant heat mass balance diagram generating and optimization

Performance Design and Planning: During the plant bidding, system modeling and thermal calculations are conducted using software to optimize circulation parameters and equipment selection, and to evaluate the efficiency and output of different design schemes

Performance analysis and optimization: For power plants, use software to conduct steady-state performance analysis, calculate thermal efficiency and heat consumption rate, identify the causes of performance deviations, and evaluate the effectiveness of improvement measures

Auxiliary power consumption calculation, analysis and optimization; Preparing plant performance guarantee documents

Preparing plant performance correction curves

Coordination and cooperation with sponsor and main equipment vendors to complete final plant performance KPI (Thermal efficiency, heat rate, output, emission level, etc.)

Application of new technologies: Focus on new technologies in the industry (such as hydrogen fuel blending, Carbon capture, etc.), and assess their feasibility for application in existing/future powerplants

Responsible for verification and evaluation of the HBDs from design institute or third part. Provides expertise and technical support on HBD calculation aspects to the Project during execution stage. For power plants, use software to conduct additional scenario analysis during execution stage if required, Optimize the thermal efficiency and heat rate, provide the effectiveness of improvement measures

Review actual input from vendors to analyze and simulate the specific HBD along with detail design proceeding if required. Responsible for review & preparation of the updated HBD based on vendors' input before plant performance guarantee verification. Provide the technical optimized proposal based on the design document review during execution stage, including review of HBD, P&ID, equipment sizing, calculation report, etc to empower the projects.

Be familiar with the technical & performance features of the major OEMs in the power market, including gas turbines, HRSG, steam turbines, etc.

Be familiar with overall combined cycle power plant start-up time and definition. Be familiar with overall combined cycle power plant start-up procedure and critical operation.

Solid knowledge reserve in performance analysis and excellent communication skills, being able to negotiate with various OEMs (GT,HRSG,ST,etc.) or project Owner/OE on key point index.

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Performance engineering from an accredit college or university.

Major in Process /Mechanical Engineering, Thermal energy and power engineering, Or other majors related to power plant performance.

Over 8 years of experience in process and mechanical design of CCPP, SWRO and WWTP.
