Roles & Responsibilities

This position is affiliated with Cincinnati s Children s hospital in the USA. The Consultant in Pediatric Oncology with experience in bone marrow transplant provides expert care for children with hematologic malignancies, genetic blood disorders, and immune deficiencies requiring bone marrow or stem cell transplantation.

The consultant leads complex transplant procedures, manages pre- and post-transplant care, and coordinates multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless, patient-centered care. The role also includes mentoring junior staff, contributing to research initiatives, and advancing the pediatric BMT program.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the pediatric bone marrow transplant (BMT) program, including autologous and allogeneic transplants.
  • Manage pre-transplant evaluations, conditioning regimens, and post-transplant care.
  • Oversee management of transplant-related complications, including graft-versus-host disease and infections.
  • Collaborate with oncology, hematology, critical care, infectious disease, and surgical teams to provide integrated care.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior medical staff, fellows, and residents in pediatric oncology and BMT.
  • Participate in clinical research, quality improvement, and program development initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide family-centered education and counseling on transplantation, treatment options, and long-term follow-up.
  • Support multidisciplinary team development and contribute to innovation in pediatric BMT care.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education/Qualification:

  • Basic medical degree from recognized institution
  • Post-qualification certification
  • Qualification Source from: North America, Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand.
  • USA: American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
  • Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPC)
  • UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Specialist Register
  • Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-board/equivalent certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland (CCST), United Kingdom (CCT) Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden OR Switzerland,
  • Sub-Specialties : Minimum of two (2) years of experience post-sub-specialty certification in Austria, Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, or the UK.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience after obtaining the main specialty qualification in United Kingdom (CESR) Portugal, Spain, or Italy
  • Sub-Specialties : Minimum of four (4) years of experience after obtaining the sub-specialty qualification in Portugal, Spain, or Italy.

License:

  • Current and in a Good Standing Medical License to practice in country of residence.
