Roles & Responsibilities
- Position Summary
- 1. Pedagogical Coordinators promote best practice in teaching, so as to maximize the learning and development
- of students and teachers.
- 2. Pedagogical Coordinators support the implementation of schoolwide curriculum initiatives.
- 3. Pedagogical Coordinators (PedCo) lead teachers in the professional growth and performance management
- process in a way that empowers teachers to give their best and continuously improve performance.
- 4. Pedagogical Coordinators are members of the secondary leadership team and work closely with the Principal,
- Associate Principal, IB Coordinators and Heads of Departments to facilitate curriculum development, delivery
- and assessment.

- Major Responsibilities
- Supporting teachers
- ● In collaboration with the Secondary Leadership Team, leads and monitors the implementation of school wide or
- divisional initiatives in teaching and learning as relevant, providing support for teaching and learning to teams
- and individuals.
- ● Supports the Professional Learning and Performance (PLP) programme in line with the school’s strategic
- objectives through
- ○ Facilitating groups of teachers in their collaborative inquiries
- ○ Supporting individual teachers in their professional inquiries (within the collaborative inquiries) and their
- individual goals
- ○ Supporting teachers in their preparation for the self appraisal conversations with the principals
- ○ Mentor/coach staff to assist them in applying best practice in teaching and learning
- ○ Ensure that the teachers are proactively gathering feedback and evidence supporting the quality of their
- work and making plans for improvement
- ○ Monitor and review progress against the success criteria, and oversee any improvement goals that have
- been identified.
- ● Facilitates internal professional development opportunities for staff and advise on external professional
- development opportunities for staff
- ● Reviews school wide data to support teaching and learning
- ● Coordinates professional development under the direction of the DoLI and Principal
- ● Supports the induction of new teachers during orientation and the rest of the first year
- ● Supports teachers in improvement of performance
- Participation in meetings
- ● Participates in GSS Leadership Team meetings with the focus on developing learning and teaching
- ● Participates in departmental meetings with the focus on developing learning and teaching
- ● Identifies and provides opportunities for team members to share good practice and professional expertise
- ● Collaborates with the MYPC and DPC in delivering professional development sessions to staff
- Systems, policies and procedures
- ● Ensures that necessary divisional policy and procedures are adhered to; track and report difficulties as
- appropriate
- ● Reviews and update divisional policies and procedures under the direction of the secondary principal
- ● Monitors, evaluates and reviews collaborative team planning along with Principal/ Assistant, Principal, IB
- Coordinators and Heads of Departments .

- ● Through personal professional development stays abreast of advances in teaching strategies so as to be
- thoroughly up to date on best practice
- ● Leads through example in creating a positive learning climate in line with the philosophy of the IB and TKS

- Competencies
- • Leadership experience, successful track record as a teacher leader
- • Experience teaching in and knowledge of the MYP and/or DP
- • Extensive knowledge of best practice in instruction and assessment
- • Exceptional interpersonal skills
- • Experience in developing a wide range of suitable curricular materials and programs, particularly those of the
- International Baccalaureate
- • Excellent command of oral and written English
- • Experience working in multicultural environments
- • Effective communication with parents, teachers, students, and other school personnel
- • High level of competency and knowledge of technology
- • Excellent problem solving and decision making
- • Experience and training in coaching
- Qualifications
- ● Bachelor’s Degree or higher
- ● At least 4 years teaching in the IB
- ● Excellent references
