Job Description

The MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Coordinator plays a crucial role in the construction and engineering sectors. This highly specialized position involves overseeing the design, installation, and coordination of building services on construction projects. The MEP Coordinator is responsible for ensuring all engineering systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire systems, are effectively integrated into the design and build phases of the project. They work closely with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure that MEP systems meet project specifications and adhere to industry standards. A successful MEP Coordinator must possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage multiple aspects of the project simultaneously. They are instrumental in ensuring that all necessary permits and inspections are completed on time, maintaining compliance and efficient progress throughout the project lifecycle.


Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee the planning and design of MEP systems for projects.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure seamless integration of MEP elements.
  • Manage communication between project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Monitor installation of all MEP elements to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Conduct regular site visits to review and evaluate MEP installations accuracy and progress.
  • Facilitate resolution of any discrepancies or issues with MEP systems promptly.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and inspections related to MEP systems are acquired promptly.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for MEP systems for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and present reports on the progress and status of MEP coordination activities.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during installation and testing of MEP systems.
  • Track and document changes made to MEP systems during construction for project records.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure all MEP materials meet quality standards.

Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
  • Proven experience as an MEP Coordinator or a similar role in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder coordination.
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software is essential.
  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and regulations for MEP systems.
  • Problem-solving skills to effectively address and resolve challenges on-site.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and reliable MEP system integration.
  • A proactive approach to managing deadlines and ensuring project milestones are met.
