Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Machine Maintenance & Repair

  • Maintain and repair extruder machines, including screw & barrel, gearbox, die head, and calibration units
  • Handle preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns
  • Perform breakdown maintenance during machine failures

System Handling

  • Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, cylinders)
  • Work on pneumatic systems used for automation
  • Maintain vacuum systems used in extrusion processes
  • Monitor and maintain cooling systems and chillers to ensure temperature control

Installation & Alignment

  • Install, align, and clamp molds correctly
  • Assist in machine installation, commissioning, and modifications
  • Ensure machines are mechanically aligned to avoid wear and defects

Technical Understanding

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Follow technical specifications during repairs and installations

Troubleshooting & Improvement

  • Independently diagnose mechanical faults
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Reduce downtime and improve machine reliability

Desired Candidate Profile

Strong knowledge of Extruder mechanical systems, including:

  1. Screw & barrel
  2. Gearbox
  3. Die head and calibration unit
  4. Hands-on experience in:
  5. Hydraulic systems (pumps, valves, cylinders)
  6. Pneumatic systems
  7. Vacuum systems
  8. Cooling systems & chillers
  9. Experience in mold installation, alignment, and clamping
  10. Ability to read mechanical drawings
  11. Experience in preventive and breakdown maintenance
  12. Role Expectations
  13. Independently troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns
  14. Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions
  15. Support continuous production with minimum downtime
  16. Guide and supervise junior mechanical technicians
  17. Assist in machine installation, commissioning, and modification
  18. Ensure safe maintenance practice
