Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Lead and supervise mechanical maintenance crews during the shift to ensure smooth terminal operation.

Monitor and attend to breakdowns of conveyors, stackers, hoppers, and shiploaders promptly.

Ensure proper allocation of manpower and tools during maintenance activities.

Verify completion of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as per daily and weekly schedules.

Maintain shift logs, job cards, and work order updates in SAP/CMMS.

Coordinate with the control room and operations for equipment isolation, start-up, and testing.

Identify mechanical faults and carry out on-the-spot troubleshooting for rotating and static equipment.

Inspect belts, pulleys, couplings, bearings, and hydraulic systems for abnormal conditions.

Support execution of lubrication, alignment, and inspection programs.

Report equipment abnormalities and recommend corrective measures to the Maintenance Engineer/Manager.

Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of frequent failures and implement preventive actions.

Ensure that all shift maintenance activities comply with Delta s HSE policies and procedures.

Conduct pre-job safety briefings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.

Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) procedures.

Monitor proper use of PPE and safe working practices by technicians and contractors.

Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately.

Liaise with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams to coordinate maintenance works and equipment isolation.

Provide end-of-shift handover detailing completed jobs, ongoing issues, and pending tasks.

Communicate critical breakdowns and major issues to the Maintenance Manager.

Support spare parts requisition and verification during repairs.

Ensure maintenance documentation, checklists, and inspection reports are accurately filled and submitted.

Suggest improvements in maintenance practices and tools to enhance reliability.

Train technicians in proper maintenance procedures and safe work methods.

Participate in maintenance audits, reliability meetings, and lessons-learned reviews.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s Degree / Deploma in mechanical Engineering .
  • Additional certification in Maintenance Planning or Condition Monitoring preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Sound understanding of bulk material handling equipment conveyors, pulleys, gearboxes, bearings, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of mechanical drives, alignment techniques, and equipment inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with SAP or CMMS systems for maintenance tracking.
  • Knowledge of permit systems, risk assessments, and maintenance safety standards.

Experience:

  • 6-10 years of experience in port, terminal, or bulk solid handling O&M operations.
  • Proven ability in managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams and contractors.
  • Demonstrated success in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults in conveyor-based systems.
  • Experience preparing annual maintenance plans, manpower estimates, and spares planning.
  • Track record of contributing to reliability improvements and safe operations.
