Prepare accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings for laboratory furniture using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

Develop layout plans for laboratories based on client specifications and site dimensions.

Design custom lab furniture components (worktops, sinks, frames, storage units, etc.) considering ergonomics, materials, safety, and functionality.

Coordinate with the sales and project teams to understand client requirements and translate them into practical design solutions.

Modify and revise drawings as per feedback from clients, engineers, or production.

Ensure drawings are aligned with industry safety standards and material specifications.

Create bill of materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support production.

Maintain organized records of all design files, revisions, and related documentation.

Visit project sites (if required) for measurements or design validation.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience as a Draftsman, preferably in furniture, interior fit-out, or lab design industry.
• Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials (especially wood, metal, and laboratory-grade materials), and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and translate them into detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge of laboratory standards (such as SEFA, ISO) is a plus.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in designing furniture for laboratories, hospitals, or cleanroom environments.
• Knowledge of ergonomics and space planning.
• Familiarity with ventilation systems, fume hoods, or lab gas/electrical layouts is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes like sheet metal fabrication, joinery, or powder coating.
