Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities:

Review project specifications and BOQ to define material requirements and technical standards.
Prepare material submittals, including catalogs, test reports, and samples, and coordinate their approval with the consultant.
Conduct pre-qualification and technical evaluation of potential suppliers and subcontractors.
Perform source inspections at factories and workshops to verify manufacturing processes and quality control.
Inspect all materials upon delivery to site (Incoming Inspection), checking for damage, correct quantity, and compliance with approved submittals.
Oversee and witness all required laboratory and field tests (concrete slump, cube tests, soil compaction, rebar tests, etc.) and review test reports.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and preservation of materials on-site to prevent deterioration (e.g., cement, chemicals, tiles).
Maintain a comprehensive register of all material approvals, deliveries, and test reports.
Investigate and report on any material failures or non-conformances.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering or Material Science.
Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in material engineering, specifically on building construction projects in the UAE.
Certified Concrete Technologist or similar material-specific certifications are highly desirable.
Thorough knowledge of international material standards (ASTM, BS, ACI) and local authority requirements.
Strong coordination skills with procurement, site engineering, and QA/QC departments.
