Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Technical Management & Maintenance
- Monitor and oversee the maintenance and technical performance of a wide range of vessel equipment and systems.
- Assist in planning and coordinating minor and major repairs or replacement of deck and ancillary machinery, piping systems, hydraulic systems.
- Manage and review reports on machinery performance, and maintenance.
- Evaluate and approve spare parts requisitions and technical purchasing.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure vessels comply with international maritime regulations (IMO), classification society requirements.
- Support the company in implementing safety, environmental, and quality management systems (ISM Code / API / ISO standards).
Operational Support
- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to engineers and technicians.
- Analyse equipment, identify failures, and recommend repair and replacement options.
- Participate in incident investigations and prepare technical reports.
Project & Budget Management
- Prepare and control technical budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Lead projects for vessel modifications, retrofits, and equipment upgrades
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Marine Engineer Officer).
- Additional certifications in Safety Management, Environmental Compliance, or Project Management are advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years sailing as a Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer.
- Experience with tanker, FPSO, and offshore oil & gas vessels preferred.
- Prior exposure to dry-docking, retrofit projects, and budget management.
- Strong technical knowledge of shipboard hydraulic systems, deck machinery, cranes, automation and piping systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across multicultural teams.
- Attention to Detail – Ensures compliance and accuracy in technical operations.
- Decision-Making – Makes timely, data-driven technical and operational decisions.
- Collaboration – Works effectively with ship crew, managers, suppliers, and external bodies.
- Adaptability – Responds to changing operational conditions efficiently.
Work Environment & Conditions
- Workshop-based in Dubai, with occasional travel to vessels, shipyards, or repair facilities.
