Job Purpose
The Managing Quantity Surveyor ensures financial and commercial control across projects, maximizing margins and adding value to the construction process. This role involves proactive management of procurement, cost control, contract administration, and reporting, while fostering collaboration, resilience, and leadership within project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
- Prepare, monitor, and report project cash flow forecasts.
- Measure, value, submit, and negotiate contract variations and claims.
- Advise project staff on commercial and contractual matters, including drafting/reviewing correspondence.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate project final accounts.
- Review and vet subcontractor tenders and agreements; administer contracts and certify monthly valuations and final accounts.
- Ensure all commercial processes and compliance standards are adhered to at project level.
- Assist in preparation of cost budgets and project purchasing targets.
- Produce accurate commercial and financial reports in line with business requirements.
- Lead and mentor project teams, build high-performing units, and provide clear direction aligned with company objectives.
- Demonstrate resilience and agility in decision-making, adapting quickly to challenges and opportunities.
- Support implementation of HSE initiatives, safety awareness, and compliance with company IMS policies.
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of cost planning, estimating, and budget management.
- Proficiency in contract administration and dispute resolution.
- Strong project management capabilities with ability to oversee timelines, resources, and deliverables.
- Advanced analytical and reporting skills, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Effective leadership and communication skills to engage with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- ERP proficiency (preferably SAP).
- Ability to uphold quality standards while meeting deadlines.
Experience
- Minimum 8 years overall experience.
- At least 5 years relevant experience in Quantity Surveying.
- 2+ years GCC experience preferred.
Education & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering.
- Chartered membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., CIOB, RICS, IWFM, IFMA) preferred.
