Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Lifting Engineer to join our crane division. The Lifting Engineer plays a critical role in the safe and efficient execution of lifting operations. This includes designing lift plans and preparing method statements, assessing site conditions, selecting appropriate equipment, and ensuring full compliance with industry standards and legal regulations. The Lifting Engineer works closely with clients, site teams, and health & safety personnel to deliver high-quality lifting solutions across various projects.
Lifting Plans & Engineering
- Responsible for preparing detailed lifting plans for standard and complex lifting operations.
- Perform calculations for load weights, center of gravity, crane configuration, and ground bearing pressure.
- Evaluate site conditions to determine the safest and most effective lifting approach.
- Generate method statements, risk assessments and AutoCAD based crane lift plans.
Technical Coordination
- Advise on selection of cranes and lifting gear based on project-specific requirements.
- Review and interpret structural drawings, lifting point locations, and site constraints for safe rigging and hoisting.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and standards.
- Conduct pre-lift briefings and technical toolbox talks with lifting personnel.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with unusual or complex lifting scenarios.
- Maintain up-to-date records of equipment inspections, lift plans, and permits.
Site & Equipment Inspection
- Perform on-site checks of cranes, rigging, lifting accessories, and ground conditions prior to execution.
- Ensure cranes are properly configured and certified for each lift.
- Monitor lifts in progress to ensure adherence to the approved plan and safety protocol.
Client Interaction & Reporting
- Liaise with clients to understand requirements, provide technical solutions, and present lift proposals.
- Support commercial teams by offering technical input on quotations and tenders.
- Prepare detailed reports post-lift, including any incidents, deviations, or improvements.
- At least Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or similar.
- Minimum of 5 years of crane / lifting related experience, with at least 3 years in a similar position
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or lifting planning software and reading load
- Knowledge of Solidworks is a plus
- LEEA Certified Appointed Person certification is a plus
- Familiarity with BS 7121, ISO 9927, and UAE safety codes
- Knowledgeable of ground-bearing pressure, outrigger pads, and lift radius impact
- Excellent planning, organization, and risk assessment capability
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
