Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
We are looking for a Legal Counsel based in Cairo who will be supporting all stakeholders with a robust and process-driven approach to the management of legal matters in accordance with local law and the Medtronic policies and procedures. This role offers a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Provide commercially oriented operational legal support and strategic guidance to management/business units/functions of Medtronic in Egypt, North & West Africa
- Counsel business clients practically and strategically on legal issues relating to the businesses/operations in question
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts with third parties, such as suppliers, distributors and healthcare providers
- Advise on legal matters, such as drafting, review and negotiation of a wide range of commercial and non-commercial agreements
- Provide operational support on the daily activities of the local operations, including rendering support to the various functions (HR, Pricing, Regulatory)
- Overseeing and supporting the consistent implementation of strategic legal projects locally
- Support the EurAsia Legal team on new processes and projects to ensure local implementation and effective incorporation of legal requirements into local commercial and business activities.
- Ensure compliance with local legislation
- Prepare and conduct meetings and training sessions with employees on Medtronic policies and procedures
- Participate in & share best practices with the EurAsia Legal team
- Effectively manage relationships with outside counsels to maximize the quality of representation and minimize legal expenses
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong academic credentials and degree from recognized law school. A qualified lawyer that can practice law in Egypt
- Arabic and English fluency are mandatory, French fluency is highly advantageous
- 3+ years of experience as in-house lawyer or in a top law firm
- Excellent legal skills and commercial acumen
- Solid judgment and integrity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical thinking
- Ability to work on various projects at same time; good priority setting skills
- Positive and proactive approach, including driving processes in a complex environment
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and making decisions and taking leadership in such situations
- Positive, can-do approach, including driving processes in a complex environment
- Team player; able to build to bridges and be principled at the same time
