Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Carrying out surveys of the environment with construction projects in mind
  • Working in diverse sectors, such as construction, property, cartography (maps), offshore engineering and exploration
  • Assessing land due for redevelopment
  • Surveying airports, landfill sites, mines, quarries, pipeline systems and more
  • Managing and monitoring projects from start to finish
  • Producing maps using GPS, surveying instruments, digital images and satellite photographs
  • Analysing data using geographic information systems (GIS) and drawing charts using computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Monitoring changes in the land during the construction process
  • Writing reports and sharing crucial information with colleagues and clients
  • Working in an office, with regular site visits.
  • Perform detailed stakeout of building layouts, foundations, and infrastructure elements, ensuring alignment with project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor construction progress by regularly surveying installed elements, comparing to design plans, and providing timely reports to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate survey records, including field notes, sketches, and digital data, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, Surveying Engineering, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in surveying principles.
  • Possesses a valid Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or the ability to obtain one, showcasing professional competence and ethical standards.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors, ensuring efficient data acquisition.
  • Exhibits a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction surveying, highlighting practical knowledge and industry experience.
  • Has a strong understanding of construction practices, including knowledge of building codes, construction drawings, and project specifications.
  • Displays excellent technical skills in data processing, including experience with software like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and specialized surveying software.
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling effective assessment and resolution of survey-related issues.
  • Shows excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Exhibits a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills, ensuring reliable and precise survey results.
  • Demonstrates physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including the ability to lift and carry surveying equipment.
