Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Expertly manage the stages of labor, including the administration of medications and interventions, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Continuously assess maternal and fetal well-being using advanced monitoring techniques, promptly communicating any deviations to the obstetrician.
  • Provide comprehensive support and education to laboring women and their families, fostering a positive and empowering birthing experience.
  • Anticipate and prepare for potential complications, such as shoulder dystocia or postpartum hemorrhage, ensuring immediate intervention.
  • Assist with deliveries, including vaginal and cesarean births, demonstrating proficiency in sterile technique and instrument handling.
  • Monitor and assess newborns immediately after delivery, providing essential resuscitation and stabilization as needed.
  • Administer medications, including pain relief and labor-inducing agents, adhering to strict protocols and patient-specific orders.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting all assessments, interventions, and outcomes with precision.
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, anesthesiologists, and other nurses, to ensure coordinated care.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, staying current with evidence-based practices and advancements in obstetric nursing.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possesses a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Holds a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current registration.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Has a minimum of 2 years of experience in a labor and delivery setting.
  • Demonstrates strong clinical skills in fetal monitoring and obstetric emergencies.
  • Exhibits proficiency in performing vaginal deliveries and assisting with cesarean sections.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and families.
  • Displays a compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, with quick decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
