Roles & Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

Al Borg Diagnostics, a renowned provider of diagnostic health services, is looking for a Lab Specialist to enhance our laboratory team. The Lab Specialist will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests and analyses, ensuring that procedures meet stringent quality and accuracy standards. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute laboratory tests as authorized by the laboratory director, demonstrating proper technical skills.
  • Ensure appropriate specimen handling, processing, and testing procedures to maintain accuracy in results.
  • Follow quality control protocols, documenting all quality assurance activities and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Implement corrective actions whenever test systems fall outside established performance levels.
  • Perform analyses of biological samples such as blood and urine to detect diseases and abnormalities.
  • Maintain and sanitize laboratory equipment, ensuring a clean working environment.
  • Collect samples from patients, adhering to best practices for safety and infection control.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed by supervisory personnel.
  • Complete other relevant tasks as assigned by the laboratory supervisor or management.

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • Experience working as a Lab Specialist or in a comparable laboratory role.
  • Expertise in laboratory techniques, equipment, and protocols.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical skills for accurate laboratory testing.
  • Knowledge of quality control and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Track record of developing laboratory protocols and maintaining laboratory workflows.
  • Capable of mentoring and training junior laboratory staff.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Certification from SCFHS is required.

Experience:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience in a laboratory context is preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) is advantageous.
