Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

At TSA, we create measurement schedules (bills of quantities) from DWG, PDF, and BIM documents. As a Measurement Specialist, you will be trained to:

  • Understand architectural designs, plans, and specifications for major projects, all produced to UK standards.
  • Identify and document any errors or omissions in the source materials.
  • Use Bluebeam and similar specialist measurement software to measure work. This includes finding, selecting, sorting, ordering, naming, and labelling measurements.
  • Perform calculations and organise quantities to an international standard (NRM/SMM7).
  • Develop bills of quantities based on standardised descriptions from our library.

TSA has structured processes for each part of this workflow, overseen by expert divisional leaders. Both instructors and a dedicated trainer will provide ongoing support, feedback, and mentorship, especially in the early stages.

03. The Training that TSA Provides

Trevor Sadd Associates Ltd offers tailored online training, which is fully funded and includes modular assessments to ensure that trainees reach the required skill level. TSA s program is designed to accommodate individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including recent graduates and professionals from architecture, engineering, and planning.

Advice to Applicants /

TSA is looking to recruit from a wide range of candidates who will have different skills and experience. The online application on Wuzzuf assists us in both profiling candidates and determining suitability. We do not expect everyone to be good at everything.

1 ) If you do not have good English skills (or the will to learn), we will not be able to train you effectively, and you should not apply.

2) You should try to be accurate when answering questions, and it should be remembered that:

  • We will consider candidates who are still studying but do not have experience.
  • TSA is looking for candidates who exhibit a high measure of consistency between what they say and do. If you tell us you are an expert, then that is the basis on which we evaluate you. If you do not have much experience, it is much better to say that.
  • Part of our evaluation process is one of verifying that we can rely on what candidates tell us.

3) You should complete the application as soon as it is practical. We evaluate on a rolling program, and positions are filled as soon as suitable candidates are identified.

4) Whilst TSA is currently looking to promote positions to women (to improve the gender balance within TSA). TSA is an equal opportunity employer at all levels of the business, and the decisions as to who we work with and the rates we pay are solely based on merit.

What Happens Next?

If we think that you would be suited to the work, we would usually proceed to organise:

  1. An informal chat/interview to address any questions and discuss your suitability for the work
  2. (Probation Period of 3 months) A trial period in which TSA would provide you with more detailed training and work on live projects.ol>
  3. Trial periods are usually between 1 and 3 months. Work is reviewed on a weekly basis. Trails may be terminated after week 1 if the candidate is found to be unsuited to the work.
  4. TSA usually pays prospective candidates $3.00 an hour during this trial period. This payment is made for the time spent on training and any resultant work produced (regardless of the standard of that work)
  5. Successful candidates would then (at the end of the trial period) be offered ongoing training and work at a rate to be agreed upon with the candidate. For most trainees, this will start at grades 2 or 3, but may be increased for those with higher levels of skill or higher levels of appropriate experience.

NB. Please let us know if you would like further details of how we work or how the training is provided. We are happy to answer emails or we could, if you prefer, put you in contact with someone from our ever-expanding Egyptian team.

06. Basic Skills and Abilities Required

Essential Skills:

  • Strong interest in producing high-standard work.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • High proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work seamlessly with colleagues from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and self-management.

Skills for Higher Grades:

  • Logical, methodical work style.
  • Highly numerate, with an eye for accurate calculations.
  • Confidence in identifying and communicating ambiguities in the work to seniors.
  • Strong motivation to learn and refine new skills.

Additional Useful Skills (Helpful but not essential):

  • Familiarity with Bluebeam or other measurement software.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Experience with Google Docs, Word, and spreadsheets.
