Roles & Responsibilities


Job Purpose

  • Assist in the development and execution of commissioning plans, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines.
  • Perform on-site inspections and testing of equipment and systems, meticulously documenting findings and discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during the commissioning process.
  • Support the preparation of commissioning reports, including test results, observations, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Participate in the review of design documents and specifications to identify potential commissioning challenges.
  • Assist in the training of operations and maintenance personnel on the proper operation and maintenance of commissioned systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies during commissioning activities.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective handover of commissioned systems to the client.
  • Maintain accurate records of all commissioning activities, including test results, inspection reports, and punch lists.
  • Stay updated on the latest commissioning technologies and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.

The Junior Commissioning Engineer supports commissioning and start-up activities for a large onshore LNG facility. The role focuses on ensuring the completeness, safety, and quality of commissioning activities executed by contractors, supporting operational testing, and ensuring a smooth handover of systems to the Operations team in line with project priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Start-up Preparation

  • Support the review of Operational Test Procedures and commissioning documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating commissioning activities across disciplines.
  • Ensure Job Risk Assessments (JRA) and safety procedures are prepared and compliant with local regulations.
  • Coordinate with HSE teams to ensure all safety requirements are met.
  • Support gas-in preparation and interface management during commissioning and start-up.

Commissioning & Start-up Execution

  • Promote and monitor HSE compliance during commissioning activities.
  • Participate in Permit to Work (PTW) meetings and safety reviews.
  • Support execution of operational tests and commissioning activities.
  • Assist in reviewing pre-commissioning and commissioning dossiers.
  • Identify, report, and follow up on punch list items and plant defects.
  • Support Senior Commissioning Engineers and report any abnormal events impacting start-up.

HSE

  • Demonstrate exemplary HSE behavior and ensure safe work practices.
  • Ensure all activities are executed under approved procedures and permits.
  • Comply fully with local HSE laws and regulations.

Key Interfaces

  • Internal: Operations, Engineering, Project, Training
  • External: EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, authorities

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Oil & Gas, including LNG plants.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in commissioning and start-up activities.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hold relevant certifications such as the Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or similar.
  • Have 1-2 years of experience in the commissioning or related field, preferably in the oil and gas, power generation, or industrial sectors.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of engineering principles and commissioning methodologies.
  • Exhibit proficiency in using commissioning tools and software, such as data loggers and testing equipment.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Show excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and detail-oriented approach to work, with a commitment to quality and safety.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; additional language skills are a plus.
