Roles & Responsibilities
An Infection Control and Prevention Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors in healthcare settings by preventing and controlling infections. This position requires a high level of expertise and leadership to develop, implement, and monitor effective infection control policies and practices. The manager oversees all infection prevention activities, including surveillance, outbreak management, and staff training, to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections. Strong communication skills are essential for educating healthcare professionals and liaising with other departments. This role is integral to maintaining high standards of hygiene and ensuring that the healthcare facility complies with national and international health regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive infection control strategies and policies across the facility.
- Conduct regular surveillance and audit systems to monitor infection outbreaks and report findings.
- Provide expert guidance to healthcare staff on infection prevention and control practices.
- Lead and manage response plans during infection outbreaks to minimize health risks.
- Organize and conduct educational programs and training for staff on hygiene and infection control.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to analyze infection control data and develop improvement plans.
- Ensure compliance with government health regulations and standards within the facility.
- Investigate infection incidents and provide recommendations for prevention and improvement.
- Coordinate with the housekeeping and maintenance departments to maintain environment sanitation.
- Prepare reports on infection control measures and present them to the senior management team.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in infection prevention and control methodologies.
- Oversee the proper collection and analysis of microbiological data to identify potential threats.
Requirements
- Bachelor s degree in Nursing, Microbiology, or a related healthcare field required.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is highly preferred and may be required.
- Proven experience in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting is essential.
- Strong knowledge of hygiene regulations, hospital sanitation practices, and health protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead healthcare teams effectively.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis and ability to interpret infection control data accurately.
- Ability to work under pressure and make swift decisions during outbreak situations.
