Overview

AtkinsRealis are looking for an HSEW Manager to be part of a major high-end hospitality and residential key project in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The HSEW Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, environmental, and wellbeing programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements and promote a safe and healthy workplace.

Your role

• Develop an HSEW Management System: Align it with AtkinsR alis standards for all Project sites.
• Establish Comprehensive HSEW Plans: Ensure each site has a robust HSEW Plan addressing management aspects of projects.
• Integrate HSEW in Contractor Prequalification: Develop and implement systems to include HSEW in contractor prequalification processes.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) events to derive and share lessons across projects.
• Manage HSEW team: Act as a line manager for HSEW Engineers located on project sites. Site Visits and Support: Regularly visit projects to support onsite HSE teams.
• Client Collaboration on HSEW Compliance: Work closely with clients to ensure HSEW requirements are met and documented.
• Develop HSEW Training Program: Focus on Critical Risks as outlined in the AtkinsR alis BlueBook.
• Conduct HSEW Audits: Regularly audit projects, address nonconformities, and track them until closure.
• Contractor Risk Management: Ensure contractors have systems for risk control, especially in work planning and method statements.
• Promote a Just HSEW Culture: Foster a culture of fairness and learning in HSEW practices.
• Support Project Teams: Assist resident engineers and project managers with HSEW-related matters.
• Promote AtkinsR alis Values: Be an ambassador for corporate values and best practices in HSEW. Advise Senior Management: Support senior management with leadership tours and HSEW advisories.
• Engage with Operational Management: Promote HSEW values in business forums to reinforce core safety practices.
• Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Work with authorities to position AtkinsR alis as a leader in HSEW. Strengthen Client Relationships: Build robust ties with client management to support HSEW objectives.
• Implement Technology and Innovation: Explore and integrate new technologies that enhance safety measures, such as wearable tech for monitoring health risks or AI for risk assessment and incident prediction.
• Feedback Mechanisms: Establish channels for receiving and acting on feedback from employees at all levels, encouraging proactive engagement and continuous improvement in HSEW practices.
• Mental Health Initiatives: Develop and promote mental health programs to address work-related stress and support overall employee well-being, essential for safe work environments.

About you

• 15+ years of comprehensive experience in HSEW within the Residential and Hospitality sectors in the UAE (preferably Abu Dhabi) working with leading consulting/PMC firms
• Strong working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
• Member of IOSH
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
• Lead auditor course (ISO45001 and ISO14001).
• Bachelor s degree in civil engineering or related discipline

Behavioural Competencies:

• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English essential.
• Arabic knowledge is advantageous
• Will be capable of working on their own or leading a small team of like discipline individuals and creating designs relevant to Abu Dhabi environment
