Roles & Responsibilities

Job Title: Safety Specialist

Job Purpose: The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring workplace safety by monitoring compliance with safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and providing training. This role plays a crucial part in preventing workplace accidents, reducing costs, and maintaining legal and regulatory compliance.

Measure of Success:

  • Reduction in workplace accidents and incidents.
  • Compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Increased safety awareness and adherence among employees.

Key Challenges:

  • Ensuring consistent adherence to safety procedures.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
  • Managing safety risks in industrial and high-risk environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct workplace inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate and document workplace accidents and incidents.
  • Perform risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.
  • Issue work permits and ensure contractor safety compliance.
  • Conduct safety training for new hires and existing employees.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Investigate and document any workplace incidents.
  • Monitor contractor safety compliance.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of proven experience in an HSE role, preferably within the agricultural, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and engage staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in preparing incident reports and maintaining compliance documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to work onsite and conduct field inspections as required.
