Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Make sure that the H&S Risk assessment and the Environmental Aspects & Impacts are prepared and approved.
  • Coordinate with the Veolia/Client representatives to revise the Risk Assessment & Environmental aspect & impact when there is any new activity/equipment/process
  • Ensure that all staff has the required and specific PPEs for the Job. If not,ensure to arrange with the help of project engineer/manager.
  • Inspect all machines (cranes and forklifts or any other machines), equipment (cutting, grinding and welding) and PPEs before daily work starts - check for color coding and inspection forms
  • Continuously do routine site checks and guarantee good housekeeping and welfare facilities are available.
  • Check availability of Emergency knowledge for the staff, emergency response and exit routes. If staff are not aware of those emergency procedures, make sure to highlight it for them and specify all needed information.
  • Make sure all safety practices are applied correctly (confined space procedure, Lock Out Tag out, Working at Height, Electrical safety, Chemical Loading and unloading). Only trained and authorized employees should perform the specific work.
  • Ensure the specific First Aid kit and Firefighting equipment are available. Inspected on a monthly basis using checklists and recorded in a site safety file. Only trained and authorized employees should perform the specific work.
  • Make sure all related Job work Safe Activities Signs and Posters (if any) are available/required and as per the Client/VEOLIA’s template.
  • Make sure that all HSE Brochures and leaflets are available, understood and followed by all Site Staff.
  • Report all types of incidents (accidents & near misses), find the root cause and respective corrective actions.
  • Make sure that “Work Permit” is being done for all Risky jobs/activities and well communicated to the concerned staff.
  • Confirm that the Evacuation emergency and chemical spill drills are being done on a frequent basis
  • Ensure that the team are following the Veolia and/or the Client Road Travel Policy
  • Conduct toolbox Meetings on a daily basis (activities for the week, Hazards & Controls) and awareness sessions on a routine basis
  • Encourage, motivate and support all employees to follow all the HSE rules & regulations
  • Confirm that the waste management (separate waste bins, waste disposal, hazardous waste bins & etc.,) is being applied at the site as per the Veolia, Client and regulatory requirements
  • Confirm that the emergency evacuation and chemical spill drills are being done on a frequent basis
  • Continuously monitor the employees behavior towards safety by their actions and coach them accordingly.
  • Check the validity/expiry of the License/certificates of the equipment and the operators

  • Comply with applicable ethics and legislation referred to in Veolia Code of Conduct policy, particularly in the fight against corruption and influence peddling.
  • Ensure the applicable QHSE Policies and standards/requirements/procedures are being applied and maintained
  • Liaise with the internal or external interested parties during the QHSE audits/inspections
  • Ensure that all the work activities at site/plant/project are controlled with the help of QHSE procedures, risk assessment (or LMRA) & the valid work permit
  • Ensure the implementation of customer satisfaction requirements
  • Ensure to report Incidents (near misses, unsafe conditions, unsafe actions &, etc.)
  • Keep the documented information as evidence ensuring the compliance to QHSE Management System.
