Roles & Responsibilities

Role Purpose

The High Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage electrical systems and equipment. The role ensures safe and reliable operation of power distribution systems in compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage equipment upto 11 KV (switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, cables, and protective devices).
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
  • Test and calibrate electrical systems using specialized equipment (insulation resistance testers, high-voltage test kits, relay test sets, etc.).
  • Monitor load and performance of electrical systems and report abnormalities.
  • Ensure proper isolation, tagging, and grounding procedures before maintenance (LOTO – Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere strictly to electrical safety procedures and industry standards.
  • Support commissioning of new installations and modifications to existing systems.
  • Coordinate with engineers and supervisors for technical support and project execution.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and breakdowns to restore operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Diploma / ITI Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in high-voltage (11kV and above) systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical protection systems, power distribution, and control systems.
  • Experience with high-voltage testing, diagnostics, and cable jointing/termination (preferred).
  • Valid electrical license or certification (where required by local regulations).
  • Strong technical knowledge of HV electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
