Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Safety Program Development & Implementation
  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies tailored to water treatment and STP operations.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • Prepare and update safety manuals, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
2. Site Inspections & Audits
  • Conduct regular inspections of treatment plants, pipelines, confined spaces, and hazardous zones.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor use of PPE and ensure proper safety signage and equipment are in place.
3. Training & Awareness
  • Organize and deliver safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Provide toolbox talks and refresher courses on chemical handling, confined space entry, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain training records and ensure certifications are up to date.
4. Incident Management
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
  • Liaise with emergency services and regulatory bodies when required.
5. Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, permits, and safety meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to wastewater treatment and chemical disposal.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous communication programs.
6. Equipment & Hazardous Materials Oversight
  • Monitor storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals used in treatment processes.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of safety equipment
  • Oversee inventory and distribution of PPE and safety gear.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA).
  • Minimum 3 5 years of experience in industrial safety, preferably in water/wastewater or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of confined space entry, chemical safety, and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work in high-risk environments and respond to emergencies.
