Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the company s specification strategy to support design integrity, compliance, and buildability.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing specifications team.
  • Oversee preparation, coordination, and management of technical specifications for tenders and construction documentation.
  • Ensure all specifications align with relevant building codes, standards, and sustainability requirements.
  • Collaborate with design managers, architects, engineers, and procurement teams to standardize materials and systems.
  • Manage and update the specification library (e.g., NBS Chorus, MasterSpec, or in-house platforms).
  • Champion innovation in digital specification tools and processes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Support the bid and pre-construction teams with technical input and specification advice.

Desired Candidate Profile

Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive experience in specification writing and technical documentation within the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of building regulations, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient with digital specification systems (BIM platforms, etc.).
